I interviewed Alex about the kind of experience he wants foreigners to have in his country. He is from Singapore. He recommends visiting Marina Bay Sands as it is a famous landmark with an amazing view of the city. He thinks foreigners should try chicken rice since it’s a simple but flavorful dish that represents Singaporean cuisine. He wants foreigners to experience the Mid-Autumn Festival to better understand the culture. He explained that the festival is a time for families to gather, enjoy mooncakes, and appreciate lantern displays. He advises foreigners to avoid chewing gum in public to prevent getting fined, as it’s illegal in Singapore. Finally, he gave me a piece of advice: be open-minded and respectful of different cultures. I think this advice is useful because understanding cultural differences helps build stronger relationships with others.
